Eleven new members are going to be inducted and welcomed by the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. And such an event is going to be a grand one and a great deal especially to the upcoming new ones.
The whole ceremony is especially prepared for. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing would host the mentioned event. It comes to life on the 15th of March and would be held at the Paramount Plaza Resort which is located in Gainesville, Florida.
Other companies are also willing to help out and be part of the induction ceremonies of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. It has been reported that Mopar Performance Parts, a good source of the best auto parts like the Nissan mud flap, would be sponsoring the activity. But it is not a surprise for Mopar has been joining in the fun for 16 years already.
The eleven new members can be said to be all experts in the drag racing field. These eleven honorees are Kenny Bernstein (a six time drag racing champion), Frank Bradley (another winner of these drag racing competition), Donnie Hampton (a drag racing champion), Ted Jones (owner of a drag racing strip), Jim McLennan (a drag car driver as well as owner of a drag racing strip), Dale Pulde (a drag racing driver who holds the title having the most number of wins in the IHRA history), Don Schumacher (a member of Team Mopar), Dave Uyehara (a builder of championship dragsters), Dave Zeuschel (a builder of legendary dragsters), Darrel Zimmerman (a director of one of NHRA’s divisions), and Bill Bader (an owner of a drag racing facility as well as a promoter of the sport). The whole induction ceremonies would not only focus on the welcoming of the new members but the event would also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 392 Hemi engine. See, this engine is one of the best innovations that has ever happened for these drag racing members.
On this, Chris Cortez, the Chrysler Group’s senior vice president for global service and parts, says, “The 392 HEMI engine revolutionized not only drag racing, but the entire automotive industry.”
According to a recent report from the Herald Sun online (www.news.com.au), General Motors' Holden Racing Team (HRT) in Australia has been placed in court for the jury to decide who will take control of the team. The ownership of Holden Racing Team has been disputed by interested parties willing to operate the team including Mark Skaife of Skaife Sports and former HRT owner Tom Walkinshaw. It is up to the Australian jury to decide who among the two interested parties will take the ownership of Holden Racing Team and continue its operation in V8 Supercars car racing category, which is the most popular motor sport in the country as well as in New Zealand. The two parties have previously proposed a structure for the Holden Racing Team, and partnership between the two parties, Skaife and Walkinshaw was included, which only means that Skaife has the right to take control of the Holden Racing Team.
"We have received the documents that were required to be provided by Skaife Sports. And they have been received within the nominated time frame," said TEGA chairman Kelvin O'Reilly. "The issues we are dealing with are complex, which will necessitate a number of detailed discussions with the TEGA board. We are progressing those as quickly as we can, with a view to removing the uncertainty that hangs over the situation as soon as we possibly can." he added.
Australian car racing fans, especially Holden Racing Team fans are thrilled to see whoever takes control and operation of Holden Racing Team, as well as excited to see the team compete in the 2007 season of Australia's V8 Supercars. The Holden Racing Team will debut the Commodore VE in the 2007 season equipped with most likely the 6.0L 270 kW (or more) V8 engine. As expected for GM branded vehicle, the Holden Commodore VE is equipped with quality GM parts like powertrain components, GM radiator, and chassis system.
Meanwhile, the report also said that injured driver Paul Radisich of Team Kiwi Racing will take a thorough checkup as he decide to enter the V8 Supercar in spite of his condition. The New Zealand driver crashed his Holden Commodore in an opening practice session for the Super Cheap Auto 1000 at Bathurst last October.
"I really want to be behind the wheel of this new TKR machine in Perth but I also know I need to be 110 per cent fit, not just physically but race fit and ready to be on the pace of what is a great race package this year." he said.
