Electrical courses in London could see new interest from construction workers after the Walkie Talkie building reportedly moved one step closer to being built.
Confirmation that the construction of the new Walkie Talkie building in London could begin in September may inspire workers to sign up to electrical courses.
Recent reports suggest Canary Wharf could be charged with the job of building the unusually-named project for Land Securities, which could be worth up to £350 million to the company.
The scale of this development may mean more engineers sign up to electrical courses to ensure they are qualified to apply for work on the site.
"We have been in active discussions and hoped to have a deal done over the summer. We have never denied that Canary Wharf were one of those we were talking to," remarked a Land Securities spokesperson.
The Walkie Talkie building was designed by Rafael Vinoly.
It was approved two years ago by then Communities Secretary Hazel Blears, despite campaigners from groups such as Unesco suggesting it could damage London's historic skyline, reported the Daily Telegraph.
